January 2007: Photographic holiday for Hawfinch, brambling, common crane, pine martin and wild boar

Join us at Chateau Gauthie in the heart of rural Bergerac for a luxurious holiday combination of birdwatching, photography and gastronomical delights. The holidays are based in a large French country house where we have custom built hides to enable you to photograph the local birdlife on exquisite lichen covered branches; greenfinch, brambling, nuthatch and hawfinch as you've never photographed them before.

This year, for the first time, we have begun to bait in an attempt to encourage some of the region's more elusive mammals such as pine martin, beech martin and genet and we have built a drinking pool and feeding area to tempt the local wild boar and roe deer population.These are wild animals and can never be guaranteed, but you can be assured we'll do our best to get them in front of your lens.We will also visit the surrounding countryside to view and photograph the thousands of common cranes that winter in the area.

Added to this we will enjoy the culinary delights of our host Stephan who has worked in some of France's top Michelin starred restaurants and will be keeping us stoked up during the stay.

The cost of the holiday includes all ground transportation to and from the airport and any day trips, full board accomodation including wine with meals, use of the photographic hides at the chateau and conference facilities each evening should you wish to edit, view and project your images. There are no single room supplements.

The cost does not include; airfare, personal travel insurance, spirits/liquers, provision of photographic equipment besides hides and bait, all items of a personal nature.

You will be expected to make your own travel arrangements to Bergerac airport, but flights are readily available with budget airlines such as Ryan Air direct to Bergerac (my last flight cost £30 including airport tax and insurance).
